encaustic paintings |
Encaustics are a combination of waxes, pigments, and resin used in a liquid (heated) form. This style dates back to the Egyptian tomb paintings of the royal family on the walls. There is luminosity of colors, like stained glass, that are very vibrant. The layers of encaustics relate to the layers of life, like layers in archeology and the layers in the soul.
